My name is Kristina. I am from canada. I am currently working on a workshop for my college situated in Montreal Quebec. I have tried to make a whistle from a willow tree that I have in my back yard. The out come of the whistle was very poor. I was unable to remove the bark. What kind of willow did you use? And is there a place I can find it in Montreal, Quebec?
This would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Kristina
You should be able to make whistles from any willow shoot, particularly those from coppiced or pollarded trees. However, you may have more success using Maple in montreal, look for straight secondary growth shoots at the base of trees and regrowth from trees that have been felled.
